Against this backdrop of social upheaval comes The Edge of the Blade, a film rich in drama and period detail that recounts the story of both the public and secret conflicts that shaped France in the late 19th century.
A film worth watching for a window into French life in the late 1800s – with the rise of feminism, plenty of duelling action, some old men stuffily pontificating about the world, and there’s a dash of romance as well. My French Life
