THE EDGE OF THE BLADE

It is 1887 and Parisian society is going through transformations that will resonate for decades to come. The supposedly outlawed practice of men fighting duels to preserve and restore honour still thrives, while women are not permitted to vote, let alone pick up a fencing foil themselves. Against this backdrop of social upheaval comes The Edge of the Blade, a film rich in drama and period detail that recounts the story of both the public and secret conflicts that shaped France in the late 19th century.

A film worth watching for a window into French life in the late 1800s – with the rise of feminism, plenty of duelling action, some old men stuffily pontificating about the world, and there’s a dash of romance as well. My French Life

Noosa Film Society

With over 2000 members the Noosa Film Society is the largest such society in Australia.

The Noosa Film Society is a registered not-for-profit organisation and was established in 1979 to encourage interest in film as an art form. At first, movies were screened at the golf club to a small group of film enthusiasts once a month. Several years later, screenings were moved to the Noosa Arts Theatre where they continued to play until the cinema in Noosa Junction was built.
