Sentimental Value is a film about enduring relationships, sisterly love, home, and childhood memories.
Renowned Swedish actor, Stellan Skarsgard, plays a once-celebrated director who persuades his actress daughter, Nora, to take on the lead role of his comeback film.
In fact, he wants to shoot the film in the beautiful, ramshackle old house where Nora and her sister, Agnes, grew up with their late Mother. The house from which he was so often absent. What could go wrong?
An absolutely superb piece of filmmaking in both its writing and acting. The comparisons with the films of Ingmar Bergman are inevitable. To say that it stands up to that comparison is the highest compliment one could pay it. – Julian Wood, Filmlink
Sentimental Value feels radical for its subtlety. It is not flashy. It does not announce its brilliance. It simply reveals it, scene by scene, performance by performance, frame by frame. – Doug Jamison, The Jam Report
