RED LIKE THE SKY

Wednesday 11th February 10am, 2.30pm, 5pm, 7.30pm Drama Director: Cristiano Bortone Italy Italian (English subtitles) 96 mins Set in Tuscany in the early seventies, Red Like the Sky is based on the true story of prominent Italian cinematic sound editor, Micro Mencacci, who was accidentally blinded as a child and must be sent to a boarding school for the blind. The story tells how our hero struggles with his blindness in a cheerless atmosphere of religious oppression, culminating in the production of an epic sound fairy tale. Interestingly, the film reveals how the pupils, many played by young blind actors, rediscover their dreams. – Kate Fuscoe, Time Out. Red Like the Sky inspires and fascinates from the opening shots, a passionate Italian tale that recalls Cinema Paradiso in its faith and belief in possibilities. – Fishpond.com.au
