THE TAVERNA covers one utterly chaotic evening in a family run Greek restaurant.
Owner of a Greek restaurant, Kostas, gets more than he bargained for when his popular belly dancer refuses to work because she wants to avoid her ex-husband and his new girlfriend, so she is replaced at the last minute by one of his eager waitresses. Mayhem ensues before the owner is forced to change his old ways in order to prevent a major catastrophe.
Matters are further complicated by a kidnapping, a scooter accident involving Kostas’ son, a well-meaning chef who cooks up rare treat and a sleazy customer who doesn’t know his limits. It all adds up to a darkly comic ride into the wild side of life, love, food and cultural differences.
A beautiful heart and soul that leaves one feeling like one is watching real life. The rawness and honesty portrayed through each of the characters and their interactions creates a realistic humanness that leaps off the screen. I laughed. I cried. I loved it. – Viewer Review
The skills of the cast are well and truly shown as they go from cracking a comedic one-liner one moment and then finding themselves in a suspenseful scene where a character is making a life-changing decision the next. – Dave Griffith, Subculture Media
