From the visionary who is truly deserving of the title, ‘auteur’, comes Wes Anderson’s 11th feature film. A sci-fi-tinted comedy that ranks among his best and is, all at once, exquisitely styled, profoundly meta, affectingly moving, and infectiously funny.
The year is 1955 and the best and brightest young minds have arrived at a small town in the American West for a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention. When the festivities are spectacularly interrupted by extra-terrestrial events, the visitors are forced to quarantine and face their very human issues head-on.
By far the director’s best effort since The Grand Budapest Hotel, and in some respects the most poignant thing he’s ever made. – Indiewire
The film is, for the most part, a delight. I would never miss a Wes Anderson movie, and I encourage anyone looking for something offbeat and original to go and see Asteroid City. – David Stratton, The Australian
