After being released from prison, aspiring Scottish country singer Rose-Lynn Harlan (Jessie Buckley) gets a job as a housekeeper. Despite insistence from her mother, Marion (Julie Walters) that she finally be responsible, Rose-Lynn can’t give up her dreams of Nashville stardom. Her boss Susannah discovers her talents and raises money for Rose-Lynn to fly to the U.S. Given the chance to finally become a country singer, Rose-Lynn discovers what she’s really been chasing after all along.

“A rousing mix of new and old, with the irrepressible Buckley seizing every song as if born to it.” – Sandra Hall, Sydney Morning Herald

“Watching films for a living can leave you jaundiced, but every so often you sit up in your seat and are moved to tears by an actor’s raw, unadulterated talent. This is one of those moments.” – Paul Whitington, Irish Independent

“Buckley is terrific, giving her character layers upon layers, and the music by Jack Arnold is toe-tappingly good, even if you are normally allergic to C&W. All in all, you’d be Patsy Cline crazy to miss this one.” – Alison Rowat, The Herald (Scotland)
