Directed, written and co-starring Joel Edgerton, alongside Lucas Hedges, Nicole Kidman, and Russell Crowe, BOY ERASED tells the true story of a young man’s struggle to find himself while being forced to question every aspect of his identity.
Jared, the only child of a Baptist pastor, is forcibly outed to his parents following an encounter with a boy in college. Unable to accept that their son is gay, Jared is faced with an ultimatum: attend a gay conversion therapy program, or be permanently exiled by his family, friends and his faith.
Based on the memoir by Garrard Conley, this is an insider’s perspective on how gay conversation camps operate, explosively exposing the harm they cause to both those who are forced to attend, and the people who place them in this environment of continual denial and shame.
Nominated for over 30 awards including two Golden Globes and winner of two AACTA International Awards.
